If you studied from NCERT books yourself, the names on your child's books probably look unfamiliar. Over the last few years NCERT has brought out new textbooks for most classes, and old favourites like Marigold, Rimjhim and Math-Magic have been replaced in the lower classes.
Here is the list of books NoTuition.in follows for each class, taken from the NCERT textbook website. Where a subject has two or more books, your child's school may use all of them or only some, so check the school's book list too.

A few things that confuse parents
- Two parts: in Classes 7 and 8, Ganita Prakash and Exploring Society come as Part I and Part II. Make sure you have both.
- EVS has a new name: in Classes 3 to 5 it is now called The World Around Us, and the book is Our Wondrous World.
- Class 10 Hindi: there are two courses. Course A uses Kshitij and Kritika, Course B uses Sparsh and Sanchayan.
- Hindi medium: NCERT also publishes maths, science and social science in Hindi. NoTuition.in follows the English medium books for these subjects, while Hindi and Sanskrit are taught fully in Hindi.
- Free PDFs: every NCERT book can be read and downloaded free from the official site, ncert.nic.in. Keep the PDF on a phone for the days the book is left at school.
How NoTuition.in uses these books
Every chapter in NoTuition.in comes from the chapter in the NCERT book, in the same order and with the same names, stories and examples. Nothing is added from outside the syllabus. If your child is doing Coconut Farm in Class 5 maths this week, that is the chapter they will find, with an activity, practice questions and worksheets on exactly that.
